ALSU for unbiased eviction drive
ITANAGAR, Aug 09: The ongoing eviction drive against government land encroachment carried out by the district administration comes under scanner and drew flak as Arunachal Law Students Union (ALSU) today termed the current eviction drive as “pick and choose” basis claiming that few individuals are targeted by the authority and rest are left untouched.
ALSU who raised the vexed issue first however welcomed the authority’s eviction drive but said that it should be carried out uniformly without targeting any particular encroacher. Questioning the manner of drive, it claimed that 90 percent of encroachers are left untouched by the authority. The approach of the authority in dealing with the issue is highly questionable, ALSU added.

ITANAGAR, Aug 09: Informing that Govt. Hr Secondary School, Tezu is in urgent need of senior teachers, particularly in commerce stream, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee, Teacher Cell, has asked for posting of more commerce teachers in the school.

Committee resolves not to allow CRPF’s settlement
ITANAGAR, Aug 09: Continuing its movement against proposed settlement of paramilitary forces in the market shed of Yupia, the Barapani Welfare Committee today registered its protest with the state government.
In a letter submitted to the parliamentary secretary, home, while reiterating the problems that could arise in the area with the CRPF settlement, asked for revoking the proposal.
It said, closing of the Yupia road following construction of the CRPF barracks will hamper children of Barapani Middle School who take the road to reach their school. Instead of allowing the area for settlement of CRPF’s, state government should accord the area to either market or some government department. Public confidence was not drawn while deciding to give the area to CRPF, it said adding Govt cannot undermine the ill effect of the presence of paramilitary in public places.

of today’s State Youth Congress. He was the NSUI State unit President from 1983 to
1986 and went on to serve as General Secretary of the all India NSUI from 1986 to

ITANAGAR, Aug 09: Various organizations of the state have vociferously condemned the physical assault on Executive Engineer (Electrical), Kurung Kumey district Narang Gumbo at Damsite Naharlagun on August 6 by a group of miscreants.
Informing that the main attacker is a SSA teacher Tarh Tajuk of Nyapin circle, the Confederation of Service Associations of Arunachal Pradesh (CoSAAP), urged the city police to immediately arrest all the culprits involved and punish them as per law of the land.
Taking serious note of attack on Govt officer and strongly condemning it, the CoSAAP also urged the SSA state mission director to terminate the service of the teacher. It further urged the state Govt to contain such criminal activities in twin cities and large scale atrocities meted out to the Govt servants throughout the state. CoSAAP also said that the organization or individuals should give free hand to law enforcing authority to deal with the criminals.
Terming the incident as barbaric and cowardice act, Apatani People’s Forum (APF) condemned the incident in its strongest term.
The Forum further expressed deep concern on the rising crimes in the state particularly assault on public officers. It said that criminal activities in Arunachal Pradesh are rising at highest velocity and being carried out publicly by miscreants because people are not jointly reacting to such activities. Forum further said that civil society and dwellers at Damsite should help in the investigation process. APC & APUWJ condemn unruly behavior of Naharlagun police
ITANAGAR, Aug 09: Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists and Arunachal Press Club have taken strong exception to the unethical behaviour of Naharalgun SDPO Jummar Basar for harassing the members of electronic media and deleting their video footage including the 56th Youth Congress Day celebration addressed by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki at Naharlagun today.
While returning after covering the event, DY365 senior correspondent Mukul Pathak, Frontier TV correspondent Pritam Singh and cameraman Rahul Kumar attracted by a crowd near Lagun Bridge, Naharlagun got down from the car and took footage of an eviction drive.
But the SDPO came charging them for taking footage without permission, contrary to the releases of eviction sent regularly by Capital DC, and asked a cop to delete the footage when the media persons were forced to halt for about 40 minutes. The SDPO in the process of deleting the eviction footage deleted the footage of CM’s function.
How could a police officer behave in such a manner and expect the media person to seek permission for taking footage of an eviction drive being conducted publicly.
While registering strong protest, the media fraternity has demanded disciplinary action against the SDPO which should be made public as he resorted to unbecoming act in public thereby curtailing the freedom of the press.
The APUWJ and APC have threatened to launch non cooperation movement against capital police for such unruly behavior of their official.
Vehicle with illegal swan timber seized
ITANAGAR, Aug 09: The forest personnel of Namsai Forest Division led by Rini Riba, DCF seized a vehicle loaded with illegal sawn timber at Namsai forest check gate on August 7 and arrested the driver and the helper of the vehicle.
The seized vehicle was transporting the illegal consignment to Assam, Riba informed.
The DFO has started enquiry after taking cognizance of the matter and the case is under investigation.
The DFO, while taking serious note of such illegal timber trade has reorganized the staff set up of various forest check gates and deployed adequate strength of forest personnel, particularly at Namsai forest check gate in addition to constitution of a patrolling team headed by A Jerang, ACF, who is continuously patrolling the vulnerable locations especially during night.

DLVMC meets discuss Poverty Alleviation Programme under DRDA
AALO, Aug 09: The District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of West Siang Zilla Parishad, Chairman Yaman Bagra at Aalo recently.
Initiating the discussion, the DC cum Member Secretary M K Sahoo said that such participatory and interactive nature of meeting at regular interval is always important to assess the success, shortcomings and lacunae to go for corrective measures. Disclosing that the CAG report pertaining to schemes implementation in the district is not encouraging, he asked Executing Agencies to avoid procedural lapses and discrepancies that contravene the set up guidelines leading to litigation and administration problems. It is a cause of concern that most of the roads and other assets created are either not renovated or abandoned and benefits meant for the rural people go waste. He asked all HODs and Executing Agencies to provide lists of all completed works and appealed the newly elected PRI leaders to take care of education and health sectors where we are lagging miserably considering the past of trend of quality education and health delivery system. The elected leaders should take the collective responsibility as a part of the Govt. at the grass root level on posting and duties of teachers, doctors, sanitation for girls at their respective places as administration alone cannot look into the entire problems of the district. The BDOs should file success stories with photographs and due consideration should be taken to ensure equal distribution of benefits to the poor and needy people. Expressing his anguish over absenteeism in such important meet, the DC said such practice will not be tolerated.
In her key note address, Yaman Bagra said that transparency among the HODs and BDOs while taking up the schemes is important to do away confusion and know development works that are taking place. The PRIs members should taken into confidence while formulating the policy and programme in the villages. It is important to make spot visits to assess the public demands and problems and keep in touch with the Govt. Agencies to start need based schemes in their respective areas.

Independence Week celebration begins
PASIGHAT, Aug 09: The first ever “Independence Week” is being celebrated at the Bharat Scouts & Guide hall, Pasighat, which was formally inaugurated today by the Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava amidst students, academicians and officers.
The weeklong program is being jointly sponsored and organized by the District Administration and SBI, CBI, APRB, HDFC, Vijaya bank, Cooperative Apex Bank, Canara Bank and Axis Banks.
Speaking on the occasion, Srivastava said, “the concept of education has undergone sea changes in the new millennium. The students should be ambitious and project excellence in academic, physical, cultural and spiritual attainment too”. No education is complete if it ignores the challenges and demands of the time and I take pride in preparing my students to complete in the competitive world and my endeavourer is to ensure that our academic services are the very best and of national standard.
Education is an inward journey that gives a clear mind to face the world outside and the students must grow in intelligence and sensitivity through meaningful experiences in classroom and outside. She further said, political freedom is not enough and we must safeguard the precious lives of our youths while marching ahead to build a drugs and alcohol free society. She hoped that involvement in extracurricular activities will help the children to get opportunities to develop spirituality, creativity, leadership and involvement in the wider life of the school and beyond. The administration also wanted to imbibe into the pupils the beauty and the aesthetic sense of the Indian culture by conducting painting, recitation, songs and dance competitions during the.

On the first day, twenty two students from middle school standard participated in a recitation competition and a panel of judges was constituted by the Chief Managaer (SBI) Alok Kr. DLVMC holds meet to streamlines PDS in West Siang
AALO, Aug 09: In its continued effort to streamline the public distribution system and mitigate flow of essential ration commodities to the needy people, an elaborate meeting of District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee on PDS was held under the Chairmanship of West Siang district Deputy Commissioner M K Sahoo at Conference Hall of DC office yesterday.
Chairing the meeting the DC stressed on conduct of quarterly meet to know the functioning of the distribution system in the district. He asked the PDS contractors to make continuous effort to lift essential commodities rice, wheat, iodized salt, sugar, kerosene to 28,122 APL, BPL ration cards holder in time and any hurdles faced by them should be reported to the administration to take up directly with the Food Corporation of India. Due care should be given to the needy consumers in the far flung areas of the district and distribution of wheat in the Fair Price Shops is reported to be irregular in many places and it started soon to meet up the shortcomings in the rice supply. He also requested the PRI members to keep in tune with the Supply department on timely flow of essential ration items in their respective areas.
Participating in the discussion, the West Siang Zilla Parishad Chairperson Yaman Bagra also stressed on timely dispatch of essential commodities to the needy people and insisted on distribution of kerosene oil quotas to the areas where there is more electricity problem. The West Siang DF&CSO T Ketan elaborated on monthly allocation and issue of ration cards to APL, BPL AAY, criteria for lifting of PDS items From FCI, delay and lapses of PDS items distribution, checking of HTS bills, delivery of SK oil to retailers etc.
The Carriage Contractors, wholesale nominees, Fair Price Owners and DLVMC members who attended the meet also highlighted on the problems faced by the people.
Karma Jerang, S K oil dealer Kaying expressed his strong resentment on drastic cut down on kerosene allotment and expressed his problem to cater the needs of eight circles under his jurisdiction where people face more electricity than other parts of the district. DIPRO

She added Arunachal is rich in natural resources which are the gift of god which is abundant. So she gave inputs on how to make Pickles of various types and on the other hand IDEA Programme Coordinator Sr. Mercy demonstrated how to make pickle practically to the SHG member.
She took lemon, chilly, meat, fish, grouse beery etc and also the requirement of spices like mustard oil, garlic, onion and made for them. Latter she distributed leaflets to the participants about its process and steps to them.
In the afternoon session IDEA project coordinator Sanjit Basumatary and H. Nikom sensitized on NEREGA and Federation for the SHG women’s of Naharlagun. During his session Basumatary gave lecture on formation of federation and its vision and mission. He explained about its rules and regulations and benefits under NEREGA. The resource person also responded to the queries of the participants and cleared their doubt regarding NEREGA.
All together 56 participants benefited from the training programme.
Before the session got over the participants gave feedback and shared some of the success stories to their co partner (SHGs).

Various article of concern regarding possible fraudulent approach to upcoming combine civil AE exams has surfaced in the last couple of days. It is indeed a serious subject that the photograph which forms an identity of the candidate during the written exams and its consequent viva voice has not been pasted in the calling letters.
In fact, little mistakes of this kind by the commission (APPSC) can enable ill willed candidates to adopt unethical means through several modus operandi to clear the written exams. For instance, benami candidates might be used by the unprepared candidates to get through the written test.

Besides the use of mobile phones, copying, gossiping and sharing objective answers among candidates often goes on inside the hall. Invigilators are often found to be not smart in doing their duty properly.
Therefore the commission should look into these little but discreet things so that fair and justified exams can be conducted. I am sure the esteemed commission will do justice to all deserving candidate in comings days so that the faith and trust of the talented and deserving candidates on the integrity of the commission are upheld.

Let the purchaser be aware
Dear Editor,
The literal meaning of Arunachal Pradesh is “the land of rising sun”. But I think it is better and appropriate to call it “the land of rising price”. Because every day prices of essential commodities are rising just as the sun rises from our state.
Besides rising prices of commodities, there is no price uniformity of goods in the
same market. One day, it so happened that my friend and I were in the market to get
kitchen stuff and we enquired about the price of potato in 3(three) shops and most
interestingly each shop charged different prices. It is like a daily diet for us
to counter and bargain with the shopkeeper for charging higher price than the actual
price. The symptom of the disease is crystal clear. Most of the time, we, the purchasers
tend to walk away with goods instead of bargaining the price charged by shopkeeper.
Because many of us think that our prestiges will lowered if we resort to bargain
or lessen the price of goods. In fact, all our think tanks and the authority concerned
do compromise with this ill-
One thing, I don’t understand is why shopkeepers increase the price of goods three times to four times more than the price in Harmuty & Hollongi. I believe they don’t pay carriage cost as per kg system or on item wise. I would like to remind our people that each passing day, unemployment is soaring and such sky touching prices of essential commodities are rising in our state. Indeed, it is very difficult for many of us to get handful meals in this monopolistic state especially for the unemployed youths dwelling in the Capital Complex.
On my personal level, it is my ardent appeal to every consumer to be aware of their rights which are clearly enunciated in “Consumer Protection Act, 1986” and “Competition Act, 2002”. We can bring to books any default shopkeeper in Consumer Redressal Forum and that too free of cost (without court fees). If we do not avail and invoke these consumer friendly laws whenever our rights as a consumer are infringed with, it will remain merely as an enacted document of laws which are allowed to be buried under the ravages of time for lack implementation and awareness on the part of the consumers themselves and the Govt. Concerned.
Despite having forlorn hope, it is my fervent request to the Home Dept. GoA, concerned District administration, all Bazar Committees and NGOs to regulate the markets and check illegal hiking of prices of the commodities under the whims and wishes of the shopkeepers. Gear up to protect the rights of every consumer and explore the feasibility of establishing a true, meaningful and effective Consumer Forums or Associations in the state which could shoulder the responsibility of taking up various grievances of the consumers particularly for the poor and ignorant one.

Dear Editor,
Is not Kimin part of Arunachal Pradesh or India????? People of kimin are still living life style of ancient man. Today I raise my voice on behalf of poor citizen of Kimin to the deft eyes and ears of our state government. I wonder why citizens of Kimin are being ignored by our State Govt so far. Sometime the problems of power and the road communication compel us to feel that we are refugee living in the state. Kimin town is in dark phase since long decade. For the dwellers of Kimin town it is becaming impossible to survive in this extreme hot weather without power. All the electronic appliances are lying unused viz fan without function, phone without battery backup, T.V, Fridge, system, Laptop with full of dust.
The pathetic road condition between Kimin and Potin is another major problem. We have to scan our pocket before going on a drive between Kimin and Potin because servicing of vehicle is must after drive. It is my humble request to the state government to pay their attention towards the problems of Kimin citizens.

Adverse impact of climate change
By 2030 the Himalayan region is likely to be two degrees warmer on an average according to a study conducted by the Uttarakhand government. The study notes that the "spatial pattern of the change in the lowest minimum temperature and the highest maximum temperature suggests warming by one to four degree towards 2030s."
